Rationale and Resources

Summary:

100% sheets (previously known as Knowledge Organisers) have three key purposes: First, as a planning tool, setting out all of the core, foundational facts that must be learnt to understand and master a particular topic. Second, as an assessment tool, allowing you throughout a unit of work to quickly check that pupils are learning exactly what you hoped they would. Lastly, and perhaps most powerfully, as a quizzing tool, helping pupils to recall with lightning speed the key information needed to make sense of the topic.

Hattie Check:

  • Rehearsal and memorisation = 0.73
  • Spaced v mass practice = 0.60
  • Working memory strength = 0.55

What's the point:

Ebbinghaus, developed the theory of the forgetting curve to explain memory. The steepest drop in memory comes immediately after learning something new. To combat this curve, information must be revisted regularly.
