| Career Connections in Action | Mrs Bear and Mrs Hargraves from the Careers Department at Massey High School spent a day out visiting some of our popular providers, gaining knowledge and up to date information on what is offered to our students beyond secondary education. The careers team visited AUT University (updates and robotics demonstration), followed by Whitecliffe Colleges (art, design, it, fashion), StudyLink (student loans and allowances), New Zealand School of Tourism (flight attending, tourism industry training), Elite Beauty School (make up and skincare) and Cut Above Academy (hairdressing and barbering). The Careers team are very grateful for our providers giving their time generously and ensuring we had the latest information so we can help our students make informed decisions in the future. |
MC Law Te Kuhunga Scholarship Programme Author - Ava Garratt, Year 13 Prefect and Academic Leader | On Wednesday the 27th of August, six future law students from Massey High School were given the opportunity to visit the Meredith Connell Law Offices as part of the Te Kuhunga scholarship program. Te Kuhunga is a program targeted at specific Auckland schools, giving high achieving students a chance to thrive. The first stage of the program saw two lawyers meeting with students at MHS to talk about the scholarship and their experiences. The second stage of this program invited all participating schools to visit MC offices and get a taste of the life of a lawyer. While there these students heard from a panel of lawyers, including the Crown Solicitor of Auckland, Alysha McClintock. They were also given a tour around the building, getting to see offices and mock courtrooms. The next stages of the scholarship will consist of university visits and applications. Successful applicants will receive $8000 and long-term mentoring. |

| Dreaming Big on Being Bold - Fonterra Young Women's Leadership Event - by Mrs Hargraves (Careers) | Aarna Rana (13HCP) and Mi Mar Lu (13KBC) were Careers Massey High School ambassadors, they attended this exciting young women's leadership event in Auckland CBD where they listened to speakers from women leaders in society today; Dame Therese Walsh Chair, Dame Joan Withers, Jolie Hodson, Cathy Quinn. Aarna and Mi Mar's highlight of this event was "Getting to know all the inspiring women and discovering that they started from the same place we are from. Their experiences taught us a lot and inspired us that everything’s possible. We thought we are behind at this stage of life but when they started talking about their lives they were at the same spot. Seeing them at such successful positions in life inspired us." |
| AUT Visit | On June 6th, Year 13 students took over the AUT campus for a day of teamwork, innovation, and inspiration! They tackled business and engineering challenges, participated in interactive classroom activities, and explored the campus in a fun "Discover AUT" competition. This amazing trip was all about sparking positive change and empowering our students to reach their full potential - whether that's acing NCEA Level 3, enrolling at university, or making AUT their top tertiary choice! Huge thanks to the incredible AUT team for their kindness, generosity, and expertise. We're so grateful for the opportunity to inspire our students and watch them thrive! |
| Careers Out West | On the morning of Wednesday the 21st of May hundreds of excited year 12 students from Massey High School descended on Trusts Stadium to explore their local community careers expo “Careers Out West”. Students had the opportunity to speak to wide range of industry and education professionals about university study options, private training provider programmes and support services available to them. Students gained knowledge and insight into what their pathways could be in the future. |
